The official language is the Arabic., but French and English are also widely spoken.

The Lira (Syrian pound ) divided in 100 piaster. all foreign currencies can be exchanged at all Syrian national and private banks. ATM is everywhere in all cities, all airports , borders. and all major hotels.

Time :

GMT + 2 in winter and GMT +3 in summer.

Work days :

From Sunday till Thursday. Friday and Saturday are the official holiday. Museums and all monuments are closed on Tuesday.

Working Hours :

From 8.30 Am till 15.30 PM in government departments. Shops and private offices are reopening in the afternoon from 16 till 20.30.

The international phone code for Syria is : 00963 then area codes are as follow: 011 for Damascus. 021 for Aleppo. 031 for Homs, Krak des Chevaliers and Palmyra. 033 for Hama. 041 for Lattakia. 051 for Deir Al Zor. 015 for Deraa, Sweida and Bosra. All European portable telephones can work in Syria.

Health :

There are no requirements for special health measures before arriving in Syria.

Visa :

All nationalities except Israelis can actually obtain the Syrian visa at border.
