St. Simeon is a Byzantine cathedral located 45 km north west of Aleppo. Built by emperor Zeno (c425 -491) to honour St.
Simeon stylites (c390-459) who lived almost 40 years on the top of a 5 m then 16 m high column. Complted in 491, it was then the biggest church in the world until St Sophia was built in Constantinople in 536.
